Show Me That Wine Again

This song was inspired by the theme song Growing Pains. (If you don't know what that is, please don't tell me. It will make me sad.)

Show me that wine again (oooh show me that wiiine)
Don't waste another penny on anything.
We're nowhere near the end. (we're no where near)
The kiddush is about to begin.

As long as we raise the money,
We can have food sitting right in our bowls.
Chevre, you and me,
We gotta be
The luckiest eaters who never quit eatin'

As long as we keep on givin',
We can have any food that we can pay for.
Chevre, rain or shine,
Every month,
We need the funding for
Buying the cholent and cake. (buying the cholent and caaake)

~ This song was inspired by the 80's and Growing Pains. If you love the 80's, sponsor the kiddush! (Or sponsor even if you don't love the 80's....but who doesn't love the 80's?!)
~ If you knew how much more money we needed to get to a hot kiddush, would you sponsor? Check here - http://bit.ly/v3uEOu to see what we're up to and how you can help us reach a full hot kiddush. We do ask for $36 minimum sponsorships. Below that is appreciated but will not be announced. More is always appreciated.
~
As always, if you want to be off this list, just let me know. I will take you off right away. I'm really sorry to have bothered you. No hard feelings. Alternatively, you can hit the "delete" button every time and no one ever has to know.

Put me in the Room with Good Food

This song was inspired by the Maccabeats "Book of Good Life". Enjoy!

I woke up and realized yesterday
Next Kiddush day is coming this Friday
Kinda nervous that it's almost here
And there’s no money

Aliyot for people who I don’t know
Waiting for hours and hours more
I wish that someone would please tell me-e-e-e
what it is I'm waiting for

Say oh - put me in the room with good food
I just wanna eat some good food
This could really be some good food, good food

Say oh - we've got hunger that we could fight
Make sure that we’ve sponsored right
Gotta pay my own way to
the table for Kiddush

Time for another Kiddush poem
Time to figure out if we have the funds
Time to get people to sponsor
So that we can buy food

Make your donation right here and now
Easier than paying for something else
Paying right this moment helps out the whole shul
Got the Kiddush to think about

When you’re sitting there in shul
Wishing it was over
You wanna make a bracha
And eat a piece of cake

Oh put me in the room with good food
I just wanna eat some good food
This could really be some good food, good food

Say oh - we've got hunger that we could fight
Make sure that we’ve sponsored right
Gotta pay my own way to
the table for Kiddush

Hopefully
This poem will bring us large donations please
Hopefully
Sensitivity to helping will increase
Hopefully
You’ll open your wallets and give more gen’rously
Cuz Hopefully
We’ll go from $0 to where we want to be

Say oh - put me in the room with good food
I just wanna eat some good food
This could really be some good food, good food

Say oh - we've got hunger that we could fight
Make sure that we’ve sponsored right
Gotta pay my own way to
the table for kiddush

Oh yeah
Sponsor for good food
Ooh....

Listen
Time for another Kiddush poem
Time to figure out if we have the funds
Time to get people to sponsor
So that we can buy food

Make your donation right here and now
Easier than paying for something else
Paying right this moment helps out the whole shul
Chag Sameach to everyone!

~ This song was inspired by the Maccabeats "Good Life". (You knew it was coming:) I've never heard of OneRepublic but I'm sure they're lovely. Thank you to them too.
~ Due to the nature and timing of this kiddush, there will not be hot food. Just cakes and cookies and drinks. Please sponsor anyways. Thank you :)
~ We do ask for $36 minimum sponsorships. Below that is appreciated but will not be announced. More is always appreciated.

And The Shul Will Know!

This song was inspired by Newsies. I <3 Newsies. I hope you do too. (1) Enjoy!

Isenberg and Stern, they want a kiddush. Do we want it?
Yeah!
Isenberg and Stern, they think they got it. Do they got it?
Yeah!
Even though we ain't got fancy liquor,
We'll make kiddush just by sayin' soooooo
And the shul will know!

What's it gonna take to sponsor kiddush? Are we ready?
Yeah!
What's it gonna take to raise the money? Can we do it?
Yeah!
We'll do what we gotta do until we break the bank and raise way enough dooooough!
And the shul will know!

And the Journal too (2)
Mr. Stern and Isenberg have we got food for you.
Now the shul will hear
What we got to say.
We've been writing poems
And we're raising funds today.
And our funds will grow,
And we'll order meat,
And the shul will know there's food to eat.

When the poem for the kiddush gets out, will we hear it
Yeah!
What if no one wants to pay for cholent, will we have it?
No!
Once we've got 800 dollars paying, who can hear the caterer say nooooooooo?
And the shul will know
That a lot's at stake.
That we got a ton of new fresh fruit and lots of cake.
We can order cholnt
And it's full of beans.
And you're gonna see what raising money really means.
And the day has come.
And the time is now.
Send your money in
For the next Shabbat.
And Kiddush is on.
You could make it hot.
Send your money...

You know that we can't have food if you don't pay us.
You know that we can't have food if you don't pay us.
You know if you want hot food, then you must pay us.
You know if you want hot food, then you must pay uuuuus.

And the shul will know.
And you all will get
And you all will wonder how we made the tables set. (3)
And you all will see
That we had to choose,
That the cash we get today will buy tomorrow's foods.
And kiddush is on.
You can make it hot.
And the time is now.
And our funds will grow
And our funds will grow and grow and grow and so
And the shul will feel the heartburn and finally know!

(1) This song was also inspired by a conversation with JW, SC, and SSh. Thanx ladies. :)
(1) If you were ever gonna sponsor kiddush, do it b/c you love Newies! Who doesn't love Newsies?! (Please don't answer that)
(2) Sorry....I had to....it was too easy. It's just the words in the song and it fit so well. Please don't kill me.
(3) b/c of the help of lovely people like yourself. And there's my plug to get help setting up :)

Raise Your Glass!

This song was inspired by Pink and the Maccabeats. Enjoy!

Stand Stand
Cuz at kiddush we stand
I get to write my poems again
A Kiddush Miracle

One plan
Fork in hand
Eat all the cholent I possibly can
A scheme that's so simple

This Shabbat's the next mevarchim
We need money for kiddushim
Who'd've thought a kiddush poem
would make people donate

So pay the shul if you want meat
at the next kiddush
nuggets and hot dogs**
We will never eat never eat
anything but fleish
cuz we love cholent
lots and lots of meat

Won't you come on and come on and
Pay the Shul
Just come on and come on and
Pay the Shul

What if we paid online
Fleishig kiddush every time
What's the deal yo?

Donate now, give us a hand
What part of "Fleish" don'tcha understan'?
Wish you'd just pay out

Shul would fill with celebration
If everyone would make donations
Jubilation for the congregation
Kein Tihiye Lanu

So pay the shul if you want meat
at the next kiddush
nuggets and hot dogs**
We will never eat never eat
anything but fleish
cuz we love cholent
lots and lots of meat

Won't you come on and come on and
Pay the Shul
Just come on and come on and
Pay the Shul

Won't you come on and come on and
Pay the Shul
Just come on and come on and
Pay the Shul

So wake up, come to shul
Help set up. (You know it's cool)***
Don't drink like a fool
And remember (and remember) (and remember)
Throw your garbage out.***

So pay the...
So pay the shul if you want meat
at the next kiddush
nuggets and hot dogs**
We will never eat never eat
anything but fleish
cuz we love cholent
lots and lots of meat

So pay the shul if you want meat
at the next kiddush
nuggets and hot dogs**
We will never eat never eat
anything but fleish
cuz we love cholent
lots and lots of meat

Won't you come on and come on and
Pay the Shul
Just come on and come on and
Pay the Shul

Won't you come on and come on and
Pay the Shul
Just come on and come on and
Pay the Shul

Kiddush!

**We can only get nuggets and hot dogs if we get over $800 but those words fit better with the song. Sorry if it was misleading
***And that is the end of my shameless plug for help setting up and cleaning up the kiddush.

Now this is a Story!

Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there,
I'll tell you how I'm not allowed to fundraise for Kiddush.

Far West of Bennett Ave, I was born and raised
In a shul is how I spend most of my days
Chillin' out max and relaxing all cool,
And all sending out emails all about the shul,
When a couple of people just tryin' to do good
Tryin' to raise money for our neighborhood.
They said not one little peep, not one email.
Save all the money for the Journal. No no, we must not fail.

I thought for a minute about what all this means.
The shul needs money too for the Journal it seems.
If anything, I could see that this was just once.
So I thought, "Nah forget it. No emails this month."

I couldn't help myself so I wrote this anyways
for the Journal. Please place your ad. Do it right away!
Everything that goes on in shul costs you and me.
And this year there are such deserving honorees.

Place your ad today in the mail or online.
Do it right away! Don't miss the real deadline.
And now that my poem is getting a bit long,
I'm going back to the real version of this song.

(wait for it)

I pulled up to the shul around 7 or 8,
and I saw all the many fruits of everyone's labor.
I looked at our kingdom and the Journal prevailed,
And I'm still on my throne as the queen of emails!**

~ This song was inspired by the Fresh Prince of Bel Air
~ To everyone who told me not to fundraise for the kiddush - I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself. Please don't kill me.
~ This is for you, SSh - you know who you are.
** I don't really think of myself that way. It matches the last line of the song - http://artists.letssingit.com/will-smith-lyrics-the-fresh-prince-of-bel-air-dq8l5kj

8 Days of Pesach

It was 8 days of pesach
And all thru the heights
No one was stirring
Not even the mice.

Everyone went home
to families to celebrate
And matzah they ate and they ate and they ate
Not just for one day
But a total of eight.

8 whole days
with my family?! (a)
Omg!
Are you kidding me?!

What will I do?
How will I survive?
I can't wait for the next
Normal shabbat at Mount Sinai to arrive

So they all flocked back
To washington heights
Where the corn is as high
As an elephant's eye (b)
Umm....

Guess what guess what
The first shabbat back
Is shabbat mevarchim
How about that?

"Kiddush! Kiddush!"
The whole shul will cheer
But there can't be any food
Neither there nor here

We need money to buy food
So donate please
B/c you know food doesn't
Just grow on trees.
No wait.....

If you want hot kiddush this coming shabbat,
Please donate the funds
So there can be hot food
For everyone.

Thank you so much
For this poem you endured (c)
And for donating the money
From our stomach to yours :)

(a) This is not a reflection on my personal family. I love my family. It's just a joke
(b) Oklahoma! by Rodgers and Hammerstein
(c) If you hated this poem, I don't really care. I'll love you anyways, here or there. If you want off this list, let me know right away. I will take you off immediately today. I'm really sorry about bothering you. No hard feelings. No boo-hoo.
(d) Sorry no song this time. Stay tuned next month...

One Day....one day....one day....

Sometimes I sit
Inside the shul
And thank God I'm eating

And I pray
Don't clear the food
Cuz I want more cholent

Sometimes in my shnops I drown
So that nothing ever gets me down
And so many ppl do surround
And then I can not turn around and

All shabbat I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For a hot bowl of cholent

And I don't wanna shove no one
That is never fun
For my hot bowl of cholent

One day....I pray...one day...

Its not about win or lose
Cuz we all lose when we feed on
Donuts or ice cream
When ppl don't donate
There's no money
To buy any hot food.

In this crowd you can lose your way (your way)
It might drive you crazy so donate your money today, today.

Sometimes in my shnops I drown
So that nothing ever gets me down
And so many ppl do surround
And then I can not turn around and

All shabbat I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For a hot bowl of cholent

And I don't wanna shove no one
That is never fun
For my hot bowl of cholent

One day....I pray...one day...

One day this all will change

People will donate

To Stop with the milchigs

Down with donuts

One day we will partake

Of kugel and cake

in the new social hall

Singing songs of kiddush

Like

wine-ooo Wine-o yo yo yo yo

One day.....donate....one day....

wine-o yo yo yo

All shabbat I've been waiting for
I've been praying for
For a hot bowl of cholent

And I don't wanna shove no one
That is never fun
For my hot bowl of cholent

One day....please pay...today...

This song was inspired by the Maccabeats. (ok...and Mattisyahu) They actually came out with is about a year ago.

For your general Kiddush knowlege

Here are some fun facts about the Mount Sinai kiddush:
(by fun, I mean boring, but people are always asking)

  • A regular hot kiddush costs about $800, including hot food, key food (cakes and fruit and cookies and drinks) and liquor. If we get more, obviously we can get more food - like atypical chicken nuggets or something.
  • If we guaranteed have $500 by Wednesday before kiddush, we order hot food for sure and hope we make up the lacking $300.
  • If we have between $300 and $500 by that Wednesday, we try to make the best decision we can and hope to get the least complaints.
  • If we don't have $300-$500 by that Wednesday, no hot food. Pareve kiddush.
  • If we get $400 from one person or group, that person or group can have a say - within reason - of what goes into the kiddush.
  • In general, we ask for a minimum of $36 for a regular donation. Anything under $36 will not be listed or announced.
  • If you would like a kiddush on a non-shabbat mevarchim weekend, we can discuss that but you are totally responsible for funding that.
  • It takes Arona about 10 minutes to write a song once she finds one that works. It takes her a lot longer to write a poem - like this one -
    http://whoneedsalastname.blogspot.com/search?q=sam-i-be
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask any time. Always feel free to sponsor any time. Email Kiddush@mtsinaishul.com

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Cholent!

Sponsor the Mount Sinai Kiddush!

Wuhoo! We did it! We raised the funds!
Thanx so much to everyone.

Since we have enough, there's more we can do.
With all the money we got, the can be more hot food for you,

Like chicken nuggets or mini hot dogs
or kishka or liver or legs of frogs
(ok I couldn't think of anything else...sorry)

Since we're over $1000, we'll have extra cash
So the next time there's no money, we can rely on this stash.

Keep the money coming from near and from far.**
I'm looking forward to kiddush for Shabbat Mevarchim Adar

(AA, this poem was for you)

**Or you are welcome to sponsor this week's New to the Heights oneg, the Eruv, the Kesher, or Seudah Shlishit. But you did not hear that from me.

Imagine There's No Kiddush {gasp!}

Imagine there's no kiddush
It's easy if you try
No liquor near us
Near us only dry
Imagine all the people
Drinking just water

Imagine there's no cholent
It isn't hard to do
No cake or mini hot dogs
And no kugel too
Imagine all the people
With nothing left to eat

You... You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope this time you'll sponsor
And the Kiddush will be a hot one

Imagine tons of sponsors
I wonder if you could
No need for any hunger
If sponsor you would
Imagine all the people
Eating in the shul

You....You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope this time you'll sponsor
And the Kiddush will be a hot one
